Human Error.

a tenth into human performance and limitations.

accidents. early aviation's accidents were caused by technical errors. improved aircraft design has led to a steady decline in accidents from early 1960's up to now. 2 out of 3 accidents today are caused by human related actions.

pilot error is too superficial thus human error was introduced which includes cabin crew, dispatchers, ground crew and maintenance personnel. not to exclude air traffic controllers and manufacturers. just a fact since most of air crash investigation by discovery channel mainly focuses on aircraft failures. so people, aircraft nowadays are safe! =D even if ada problems, pilots and those people are trained to deal with it and land safely.

the rest are about how human body reacts with high altitude and all those. nothing much. =D

Friday Session.

Another friday session in rba. Mr.Musa came in quiet pissed upon one of his pilot's poor performance. so he was giving speech about how our attitude should be and all that. started with zul introducing himself as if its a real interview and continued by the rest. not long after that, zudin kana tanya, "cubatah, kau explain pasal the program". i went "shiiiit! alum ku membaca banar tu".

then after zudin, it was fakhri's turn before me. cuba saja tia.

"the course would be done at Cabair College of Air Studies in Cranfield which is next to the Cranfield University. there would be 6 months of ground school consisting of 14 subjects. 7 of which are technical and 7 are navigation subjects. upon finishing ground school, we'd be heading Requena, Spain"

"Stop there. bah cuba kau" and pointed orang lain. and gave me the unsatisfied look. inda ku tau apa salah though. ahaha. that was my only part of the so-called interview. then it was "ubat perangsang" as Mr.Musa called it. finished at 11 and then ambil Cabair text books yang kana suruh baca. 15 books all together and i took 4 of it.




The books. hopefully ill finish browsing through by friday since i need to give them out to the others lagi. Human performance & limitations, General navigation, Operational procedures and Mass & balance. errrr.

Audio/E.N.T

appointment for audio. i was early pasal i wanted to avoid traffic. reached hospital by around 1.15 and my appointment sepatutnya start by around 1.30. taie lah. ada pun inda ia punya staff by 1.30. then ada this guy tanya kan buat apa di sana. so i showed him my form and he told me to go inside arah audiology. around 5 minutes later, kana panggil and the nurse or specialist told me to enter this cottage looking room. damit lah. ear drum checked, ear pressure checked and nada liquid bla bla something. the headset is cool, id want one. she told me to press this clicker if i hear any sound.


"katik ani kalau kau ada dangar bunyi ah? walaupun damit berabis. ada tu karang bunyinya macam tuuut. tuuuut." x)


so yeah, did the test and she came in an sat infront of me.

her "ada dangar ipod or something?"

me "errr. ada"

"loud volume?"

"saaadang"

"your hearing is okay. normal pulang. but my advice is you reduce listening to loud music. pasal as you know, pilot mesti renew license every year. so mun kamu ada problem payah tu karang. but its normal pulang ni"

"okaaaay." *wide smile*

"ambil my advice ah?"

pikirnya kanak kanak kali ni. ahaha. then i had to wait for the doctor to call me lagi to check Ear Nose and Throat. a few minutes saja and then siap tia. off to berakas hantar my result, laila nada. boring. was gonna ask her about my report. okay kah inda. so bagi saja to the guy sana. went home.

Appointment and Friday Session.

Had my eyes checked on thursday. right eye can see further and left eye ku kan read stuffs closer to my eyes. didnt know that. sakai. haha.

kana suruh baca letters on the wall first, right eye was way easier. then masa kana push this thing ke mata, sampai mana blurr, my left eye dapat baca even when it was on the limit of the apparatus. colour blind test and ada this glass thing where an orb seems to appear. eye pressure tested. they even dropped this liquid into my eyes. pikir eye mo or something. sekali once they dropped it in, it was sticky and thick. payah wah kan buka. he told me to blink balik balik and clean my eyes. once i went outside the room which was dark, i realised the liquid was yellow. which was cool. haha. out of all 10, i was the only kana bagi the liquid. i dont even know why. =) but i think i passed. =P

another mib session on friday. thought that we'd be interviewed, inda jadi. instead, we were briefed with fellow engineer. si sufri and si ham ada. some stuffs were quiet complicated and funny.

"saya mau kamu bekawan sama orang putih yang ada private pilot license. but bekawan bekawan jua, karang ia membawa makan, jangan kamu ikut makan BAIE". yes he raised his voice arah baie atu. haha.

Spirometer.

Spirometer is an apparatus for measuring the volume of air inspired and expired by the lungs . It is a precision differential pressure transducer for the measurements of respiration flow rates. The spirometer records the amount of air and the rate of air that is breathed in and out over a specified time.

had my spirometer test on saturday with the rest of future 38th. as usual, mun semua betamu atu beibun tah bilang orang. balik balik kana "shhhh!!!". haha. its a test where you have to give it all you've got and blow to this machine to analyse your lung functions. thats what the nurse said to us. his demo is funnnnny man! and he did it for 10 times. seorang sekali ia demo. and we peeked from outside everytime ia buat demo. haha. dibanar-banarinya wah.

first you've to blow sslowly and steadily as long as you can. and then lapas atu mesti blow spenuh hati, paru paru to be exact. heh. the maximum time given is 8 seconds and i ran out of breath after 3 seconds. ahaha. sudah ia warning "orang tinggi kurus panjang andang lung capacity low, biasanya just pass nganya ni orang macam kau ani".

the result came out terus from the machine. and i barely pass. you have to blow and pass this minimum line in order to pass. different people has their own border line. ive no idea cemana dorang calculate but yeah.

M.I.B

on friday, we were told to come to rba to prepare ourself for moe interview. aiman was missing. started off with jotting down points from muhibbah. and then baca brochure from cabair. upon finishing that, i asked the guys questions. they came up with random answers. funny ones as well. spent time talking and chit chatting rather than preparing ourself.

by 11, mr.musa came in and asked if kami lapar. semua cakap awu. haha. then kana suruh makan. took pictures with the boeing model and that was about it. nothing much really. mr.musa said he'd interview us next week. to see our weakness and all that. we went "shiiiit!", pasal kami ready pun inda. haha.

EEG.

Electroencephalography (EEG) is the measurement of electrical activity produced by the brain as recorded from electrodes placed on the scalp.

Just as the activity in a computer can be perceived on multiple different levels, from the activity of individual transistors to the function of applications, so can the electrical activity of the brain be described on relatively small to relatively large scales. At one end are action potentials in a single axon or currents within a single dendrite, and at the other end is the activity measured by the scalp EEG.

i had my EEG on thursday. the closest ill ever get to matrix. haha. they attached electrodes to your scalp. banyak lah. first of all, kana sukat kepala and the aunty ; who happens to be mom's ex-classmate and leenuh's mom - marked my head. this wasnt painful. but then masa aunty bagi the EEG gel, sakit! haha. kana kikis wah kepala ah. =P

The test consists of closing your eyes and relaxing, and then i was told to look forward. this was repeated a few times before over-breathing for 3 mins. gila, karing wah mulut. inda lagi buleh talan air liur tu. ahaha. aunty knows from the results if my eyes were moving and all that. x) upon finishing that, this strobe were place infront of my eyes and kana suruh buka mata. it was VERY bright and ada different patterns of blinks. was told that ada orang failed this test and inda kana hantar belayar. takut sudah, sekali aunty cakap "kau punya ani normal banar ni, jgntah ingau". xD so i passed my EEG.

sent in MOE from on monday before ke Pusat Kesihatan Berakas 'A' lagi since kami inda tau bila appointment. haha. turned out it will be in the afternoon. so we went to PTEB since Fakhri needs his certificate. the security sana freaked me out. macam overprotective bah. haha.

then we went to MD next since si zudin lagi kan menguruskan his certificate. introduced Fakhri to our cool security. =P we've no idea where to head since its still early, so we went to the mall jalan jalan before having lunch. lapas atu kami lepak di rumah si zul menunggu pukul 2.

Appointmentnya check blood pressure, weighed, height measured and kana brief sikit. atu saja. boring. the next kana suruh hantar urine sample and ambil darah. surprisingly, i wasnt the only one yang takut jarum. x) si kyle freaked out seeing a lady before him had her arm poked 3 times before the doctor got the right vein. giiiiila! my turn was errrr. okay? haha.

Doctor "ke mana kamu kana hantar for pilot ani?"

looked away before saying "ke UK then ke Spain"

"eh banar kah ni?"

"awuuu"

"kenapa kau liat tempat lain?"

"aku takut jaruuum" and laughed.

"eh cemana kan jadi pilot ni mun takut?"

"dalam kapal terabang mana ada jarum atau kana ambil darah"

"eh ada ada saja"

sekali sudah dicucuknya, ku liat tia. said "eh ruggeeed". haha.

"eh tadi takut"

"bagitau mun kan cabut, inda ku mau liat"

"tuuu". ahaha. xD



went straight to ripas after that for ECG and x-ray. kana suruh buat "wajie pose" in front of the x-ray machine. boring inda dapat liat the results. poo. ECG was nothing much. went to Ahan Thai for lunch before buang masa di mall since we need to take our ECG results by 2. sent the results to Berakas before driving home.

Starts.

Results came out and i got A for mathematics, C for physics and D for chemistry. As planned, i applied for MOE scholarship; degree in radiography. since i wasnt confident ill get it, UBD and Cadet Pilot were applied as well. plan was MOE as my first choice. obviously things changed.

did a lot of thinking and discussion with parents sama siblings about the choices and i decided to go with Cadet Pilot. sekali masa first batch kana call for written test, i was disappointed pasal aku inda kana tlipun. back then aku inda tau ada second batch. turned out ada and i got the call the day the first batch buat dorang punya test.

it was personal something test, math, phy, matrices and this morrisby-like test. did okay i guess since i went through some of the o'level stuffs. ku liat pulang saja. haha. after that RBA called for an interview. they asked about planes, current issues, MIB stuffs and doa jua. i did errrr below average. but then Mr.Musa said something by the end of the interview; "we're gonna put you through but you need to buckle up with more infos kata orang putih". a glimmer of hope but then mana tau ia cakap cematu arah semua orang, i wasnt all confident masa menunggu.

another call from RBA, attended briefing with another 20 shortlisted candidates. were told that we'd have to do assessment from Cabair College of Air Training by the next week. Monday was 3 hours of Morrisby continued on with math test and aural math. basically spent the day di RBA dari pagi ke petang. Tuesday buat test physics pagi before choosing our preferable time untuk interview with the general manager of Cabair, Mr. Tim Sharland.

Mine was on thursday masa Maulud Nabi, so i had a day to prepare and all that. got there and i did my pilapt test first which made me kusut at some stages. interview lapas atu. managed to answer all of his questions, some of em with guides from Mr.Sharland. questions like how wings work, differences between propeller jet engine and turbo jet engine, differences between airbus A319 and A320, what material is the 787 made of, the reason why i want to be a pilot and all that stuffs.

"i'm quite sure you'll get the call. if Musa isnt gonna call you, he needs a very good reason not to"

about two weeks after after, RBA called again saying i made it through. shortlisted in the list of 10. briefing, congratulated by Mr.Musa and he gave us biasiswa form to be filled. but he said balum lagi confirm kami dapat the scholarship since it depends on MOE scholarship department's decision to either send us or not. plus we need to clear or medical check jua.

saturday we future cadet pilots met up di RBA before ke Pusat Kesihatan Berakas 'A' to meet up Dr.Hj.Rozaimee who would be in charged of our 1st class medical check. isi a form jua saja and then we went makan before going back home.
